BACKGROUND
ISTANBUL Mortgages was formed 3 years ago in anticipation of TURKEY becoming a leading overseas property destination – as Spain was 20 years ago!

One of the reasons Spain became popular (apart from the initial low prices) was the advent of European mortgages.

We created Istanbul Mortgages to meet the need for home buyers to be able to buy their Turkish property at low cost and for investors to maximize their profit. As such, we are the first dedicated mortgage company in the UK for Turkey.

As you would expect from being pioneers in an emerging market, Istanbul Mortgages had to help forge a new mortgage system together with the Banks and Turkish authorities, working with them to create a legal system that would protect all parties, including the buyer.

The process has been a long one. The Law allowing foreigners to buy property took time to be modified – and at one stage, foreign sales were put on hold for six months.

Then the credit-crisis hit and many Banks withdrew from the market or changed their interest rates and lending terms to make it less attractive to take a loan. Istanbul Mortgages, however, was always there to solve problems and offer alternative mortgage solutions.

We have gained a lot of experience during the years in which many satisfied customers have been given the finance to realize their dream.
